Read Hebrews chapter 6

VERSE:

Hebrews 6:12–We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

TRUTH:

Typically, when we think of someone who is lazy, we think of a lack of physical activity. However, scripture here that warns against being lazy refers to a different type of activity as the opposite of lazy: faith and patience. Neither one of those require any physical exertion or activity, yet, both take extraordinary amounts of effort on both our parts. For faith, we must control our natural desire to control everything in our world, knowing that God has everything in hand. For patience, we must wait on God’s timing to follow through on His plan. While this may not take physical effort, we can easily become lazy if we stop exerting the effort needed to surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to lead and direct us. Are we lazy today or are we living out faith and patience?

RESPONSE:

Father, I praise You for all that You have done and all that You are doing. Forgive me when I try to forge ahead and keep me from becoming lazy. Keep me focused on my faith in You and on the patience to wait on Your promises, no matter how long they may take because You are worthy of all my patience.
