Christian Devotional – July 18, 2016

Read 2 Peter chapter 1

VERSE:

2 Peter 1:8–For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

TRUTH:

The previous verses list several qualities that are important for a believer and indicates how they grow from one another. These include things like faith and goodness and self-control. This is a very important list because of what it says in this verse. If we are possessing these qualities and working to increase them in our life, then we will be effective and productive. Most people want to be effective and productive. If we look at our Christian life and we don’t see that we’re producing much or being very effective, then we need to go back to these verses and these qualities and see what we possess and what we don’t.

RESPONSE:

Father, some days I feel so very ineffective. I don’t know that I make a difference or that the things I am doing are what You would be having me do. I pray that You will help me to gain these qualities of goodness, love, faith, perseverance and the others in increasing measure. I want to me effective for You and I know that only through Your help to gain these qualities will that be possible.
