Read Daniel chapter 8
VERSE:
Daniel 8:27–I, Daniel, was worn out. I lay exhausted for several days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business. I was appalled by the vision; it was beyond understanding.
TRUTH:
This whole chapter is a vision that Daniel has of the future. God gives him a glimpse into what is yet to come for him and for the kingdom that he is currently serving. How often do we wish we could get a glimpse of what lies ahead of us? We want to know what the future holds thinking that it will somehow calm us or give us peace or direction in the present. Daniel, however, got that opportunity, but it didn’t hold for him what we would have expected. At the end of it, Daniel is exhausted and overwhelmed. We have to realize that the future is far too much for us to comprehend and there is more going on than we will ever realize. We have to trust God to hold the future and to move and work in the present through us. We may not know what is coming, but we can be confident in knowing the One who does know. Are we trusting in Him to take care of the future?
RESPONSE:
Father, I get stressed out when I think about the future and I get overwhelmed when I get even a small glimpse into what You are leading me toward. I know that You have a plan and I will not focus on the day to day or even what the future might hold. I will focus solely on You, knowing that You have the rest taken care of. I will trust You with my future.
