Don’t lie to yourself. As we have been going through this year focusing on #studydoshare, hopefully you are seeing your study of God’s Word becoming more consistent. However, study alone is not enough, the second piece is “do.” Read James 1:22-24.
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James 1:22 NASB

Don’t delude yourself. Said another way, don’t lie to yourself. Are you really putting into practice the truths that you have been learning? Are you seeing change in your life? Are others seeing change in your life. If the answer is no, then you have been lying to yourself.
As we study God’s Word, we haven’t really learned it until we have taken it, repented of our past failures in that area, and then allow Christ to practice and live out the new. That is how we must be honest with ourselves and to God. Don’t lie to yourself that you are better or more than you are. Only by putting into practice the lessons we learn can we be found to be doers of the word, and not hearers only.
