VERSE: Leviticus 24:22–There shall be one standard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am the Lord your God. TRUTH: One standard, one set of rules. The Lord wants the people to know that they will be held to the same standard regardless of who they are or where they are from. Are we keeping ourselves in line with that one standard? RESPONSE: Lord, You have a one standard and one measure for all people. Forgive me for when I have tried to separate people into levels or classes. You love all people and expect the same from all of them.

VERSE: Leviticus 23:43–so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths, I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God. TRUTH: We are responsible to share with our children and those in the next generation the faithfulness of the Lord. If we do not share, they will not know and not hear about all that God has done. How will they trust in God when they do not know or understand why we trust in Him? RESPONSE: Father, I must share Your amazing deeds in my life with others. Occasionally, I am reluctant because the stories show…

VERSE: Leviticus 22:32–You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I am the Lord who sanctifies you. TRUTH: Two related ideas jump out of this verse. The first, God’s name is Holy and is to be treated as Holy. We are not to profane His name. The second, God is the one who sanctifies us. We do not make ourselves clean and whole. Even in that time, just offering sacrifices did not make the people clean, God did that. He chose to have the people sacrifice to show their obedience to Him. If they followed His instructions then He would choose…

VERSE: Leviticus 21:6–They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God, for they present the offerings by fire to the Lord, the food of their God, so they shall be holy. TRUTH: The priest had some extra rules they had to follow. As God’s ambassadors and representatives, they needed to be holy because God is holy. We are now God’s ambassadors through our relationship with Jesus Christ. Are we seeking to be holy as God is holy? People should see a difference in us with the standards we keep. RESPONSE: Father, You are holy! Let me never lose sight of that fact. I will…

VERSE: Leviticus 20:4-5a–If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death, then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family. TRUTH: God has told them not to sacrifice their children, and if they do, then they are to be put to death. Along with that, He continues and says that if people do not follow through with that punishment, then they are guilty, too. We are not to stand idly by when we see a wrong committed. We are to stand up for what is…

VERSE: Leviticus 19:11–You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another. TRUTH: Yesterday, we talked about the importance of respecting and reverencing God. Today, this verse deals with respecting others. Do we treat other people with love and honor, or do we try to manipulate and use people? We will be held accountable for how we treat other people. RESPONSE: Father, I want to treat others with respect and show them the love that You would show since they are Your creation and You love them, too. Help me to follow Your standards when it comes to how I treat others.

VERSE: Leviticus 18:4–You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am the Lord your God. TRUTH: We are given rules that God wants us to obey. He has standards and expectations that a person who follows Him is to meet. Why should we follow God’s rules? God gives several reasons throughout scripture, but the one listed here is simply because He is God. The Lord is over all things and He is God. Do we respect and reverence God so much that we follow His commands simply because of who He is? RESPONSE: Father, as we start a new year, I will…

VERSE: Leviticus 17:14-For as for the life of all flesh, it’s blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, “You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.” TRUTH: I once had a person tell me that she didn’t like Christianity because it was too much about blood. God explains Himself here. The blood represents the life of each person and animal. God wants us to understand that it is not just about blood, but life. We must have respect for life of all kinds, even the…

VERSE: Leviticus 16:21–And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness.TRUTH: Even then, the people of Israel had to have a scapegoat who would be punished and cast out in their place for the sins that they committed. Sin has a price and that must be paid, even now. Jesus was the ultimate scapegoat. All he sins of the world were placed…

VERSE: Leviticus 15:31–Thus you shall keep the sons of Israel from their uncleanness, so that they will not die in their uncleanness by them defiling My tabernacle that is among them. TRUTH: God is Holy. God is many things, but we must remember that God is Holy. He gave these laws to the people to help them see that His Holiness is perfect and that they must respect and honor His Holiness. Are we reverencing the Holiness of God? Do we treat Him as a God who is Holy? RESPONSE: Father, You love me and You give mercy and grace to me, but You are also pure and Holy. I…
