Blog Hop – “The Next Big Thing”
I thought we’d do a little something different today. I’ve been invited on a blog hop by author Troy Lewis and thought it sounded like fun, so I jumped in (or should I say “hopped”). Troy is the author of”Another Second Chance: God’s Story” which I reviewed here a week and a half ago. Fabulous book!
Troy also has a blog and I recommend that you go and check out what he’s got going on over there as he also answered these questions last week: http://wwwanothersecondchanceorg.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-blog-hop-or-treasure-hunt-you-decide.html
In the meantime, I’ve been given 10 questions to answer about myself below. Following that, I’m going to punt to some friends of mine and fellow authors and bloggers, so I encourage you to check out their stuff as well!
OK, so here’s my responses for these questions. Since I have several books, I decided to tell you about a new one that will be coming out in the next month or two.
TEN QUESTIONS:
What is the working title of your book?
This next book is titled “The Daily Devotional Series: 365 Devotions Through the New Testament”
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I write a daily devotional every day. I have had such wonderful feedback about how those have touched people and helped them to refocus their thoughts and ideas for that day. I thought it would be a great opportunity to combine a year’s worth of these devotions over the New Testament so that people can focus and study these wonderful books of the Bible.
What genre does your book fall under?
This book is a non-fiction that is a Bible Study and/or Devotional
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Hee, hee, this one makes me laugh. Since my book isn’t a fiction work, it doesn’t lend itself to a movie very well. Although, maybe it could be a documentary or a narrator sitting and reading the devotionals. In that case, maybe James Earl Jones could do that!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
An overview of the New Testament, one chapter at a time, that provides a truth from scripture and a response that we can all live out for that day.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
This one is going to be self-published. I have enjoyed self-publishing all books in “Daily Devotional Series” and felt that this one should be no different.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Well, that’s kind of tricky. I’ve been writing down my devotions off and on for 10 years. So when I went to put this together I went back and pulled out my journals and several of the days are taken from as far back as 2002 and some are as recent as 2012. I compiled them all together in the past few months.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
There are certainly several other books out there that go through the New Testament in a year. I am hoping this will fill the need for people who are looking for something quick and easy but yet brings a spiritual truth into a person’s heart and life that they can live out in obedience to God as they go through their day.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
All my writing really is just done in obedience to God. As I mentioned, I’ve been writing these devotions for years and over the past couple of years have just felt led to share them. The reader’s response to them has also been a big incentive to continue, but ultimately, I’ll do this as long as I feel led by God to continue.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
These devotions were written for me, first and foremost. They represent a specific place in my life and my walk with Jesus where that was the message that He had for me on a certain day. Certainly I have gone back and edited them because my grammar and spelling are not always the best but these come from a real place in my life so remember that God speaks to us no matter where we are. No matter what You’re going through realize that you’re never alone and that others have been there before you to help walk you through. These devotions are proof of that.
OK, NEXT!!
That’s right, next week you can hop on over to check out the amazing and wonderful women below. They are truly a blessing to my life and I know that you will be blessed as well.
