Go and Do, Day 10

What does it take to have complete faith? Read James 2:20-26.

James continues his argument that faith and works must go together. Today we see him give two separate examples. Both of these people were mentioned in the Old Testament. Both are also mentioned in Hebrews, chapter 11 in the famous hall of faith chapter. Abraham and Rahab. One, an icon of Jewish and Israelite historical value, the other a prostitute. Both we see had faith and believed, and both took action based on their faith.

James wants us to understand the importance that yes, their faith had to come first, but they’re faith couldn’t stand on its own without actions behind it. Both of those people had to be taking action based on their faith. While we can never separate action from faith, we cannot have faith without action.

When we look at our lives, do we truly have faith in God and believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord of all? What actions are we taking that demonstrate that faith? What actions do we need to take that God has called us to so that we can live out our faith? Taking action without faith doesn’t do anything. But having faith and not having action is only a partial faith. To have complete faith, we must wholly trust in Jesus Christ himself, and have actions that demonstrate that faith to others.
