Go and Do, Day 12

Pick one. Read James 3:7-12.

James continues talking about the influence and impact of the tongue. Such a small thing has such an incredible impact. Here, James discusses the fact that we can use the same tongue to do incredible and phenomenal good in the world, and yet we can also use it to be unspeakably evil to others. We use our mouth and our tongue to praise God and to bless him. And yet we also then use it to curse other people.

James recognizes that this is not how things should be. He continues to share the importance of being consistent in our daily walk. We must believe, and we must follow through and act on the things that we believe in. One place those actions can be very, very evident is in the words that we say. Are we keeping a check on the things that we say? Do we filter our thoughts through the lens of Jesus Christ before we say the things that we think?

Our thoughts are to be a mirror of Jesus Christ, and that can only happen as we surrender our lives to him and allow him to speak through us. Are we choosing to allow God to speak through us words of life to others today?
