Go and Do, Day 19

Be patient. Read James 5:7-12.

Patience is only needed when what is happening isn’t what we want to have happen. Have you ever noticed that? When things are going the way we want them to, at the speed we want them to, we don’t think about patience. Patience is only needed when what we want to have happen isn’t happening, or isn’t happening fast enough.

James reminds the believers that they have to have patience. There are many things that we want to have happen, and many things that have been promised to us that will happen. They just simply aren’t happening as fast as we want them to. We can be completely confident that God is going to do everything he has promised, but that doesn’t mean that he’s going to do it along the timeline that we would expect or that we want.

Patience is required as believers. We can be confident God and still display patience, knowing that what he has promised will come about when he wants it to and not before. Are we displaying patience today?
