Go and Do, Day 2

We are responsible for our own temptation. Read James 1:9-18.
When things are going badly and we’ve made bad choices, it becomes really easy to try to find something or someone to blame. Nobody wants to think about the fact that we are the cause of our own difficulties and struggles. However, sometimes we are. If our struggles are a result of our poor choices and sinful nature, then we have to accept the fact that it was our giving in to the temptations that led us to where we are today.
We have to take ownership of the responsibility that we have. We are sinful people. We are going to make bad choices. Temptation comes from within ourselves and includes the desires and the lusts that we have.
Those are what create the struggle within us as we seek to choose what is right over what is easy every day. When things go badly, we want to blame other people. But, we need to take ownership of our own choices and recognize the part that our own desires play in our downfall. Because we are sinful, our desires are sinful as well.
We have to allow Jesus Christ to live in our life and be seeking him and his desires. He is the one who has overcome temptation. He is the one who’s overcome the world. Through him, we can, too, but only through him. Are we submitting ourselves and our sinful desires to him so that he can provide the way of escape for the temptations we will inevitably face?
