Christian Devotional – April 8, 2014

Read Deuteronomy chapter 24

VERSE:

Deuteronomy 24:16–Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

TRUTH:

Sometimes we can be deceived into thinking that we should be punished for the horrible things our parents or our children or other family members do. However, God does not hold us accountable for the sinful choices that others make. We are only responsible for the sinful choices that we make.

RESPONSE:

Father, I will remember that each person is accountable to You for his or her own sin. I am responsible for the poor choices that I have made, but I am not responsible for the sin of others. I will bring my sin to You and confess and I will urge others to do that same with their sin.
