Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 65

Be purified. Stay consistent. Read Daniel 12:5-13.

As we look back over the entire series of Daniel, we have spent over 2 months walking through the leadership principles from book. As we come to the conclusion, in the last few verses, we see a tremendous reminder. We are to be purified in what we do through God and we are to stay consistent in following Christ.

Daniel has just finished receiving a vision that he does not understand. He asks about it and the messengers tell him, “Look, it’s okay to not understand. You must focus on being purified and living the life that God intends you to live. You are to stay consistent with what you are doing. Bad people are still going be there, but you follow Christ.”

This is similar to how Jesus ends his time with Peter in John chapter 21. Jesus reminds Peter that his whole responsibility is to follow Jesus. For Daniel, he didn’t need to understand the meanings of the prophecy or the hidden agendas or everything that it was going to entail. God allowed him to see this and to know this, but ultimately, it was only to help lead him to be pure and be consistent.

Does that describe our Christian life? Are we focused on our maintaining our purity? And are we focused on day-by-day consistently walking the Christian walk? Leadership encompasses so many things. Unfortunately, I have seen leaders who have had tremendous levels of influence whose ministries have been derailed because they have not maintained their purity, and they have not lead with consistency. It’s devastating to see the impact that can have. We need to be leaders that lead through difficult circumstances, and that starts by leading ourselves purely and consistently every single day. Then we will be leaders who lead through challenging circumstances.
