Christian Devotional – August 26, 2016

VERSE:

2 Kings 8:5–Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to appeal to the king for her house and land. Gehazi said, “This is the woman, my lord and king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”

TRUTH:

God has a wonderful sense of timing. God sees the entire picture of time and He knows what will occur and how it will turn out and He has an impeccable sense of when to bring certain things together. This woman was just coming to ask for her things back after being gone for 7 years and at that very moment, the king was being told the amazing story of her son being brought back to life. God orchestrated those events and brought them together at just the right time in order to show His glory and demonstrate that, not just to the king, but to everyone who heard about it. Are we mindful of God’s sense of timing in our lives? Do we seek to wait patiently until God brings about the right time for everything that we do?

RESPONSE:

Father, it can be difficult to wait on Your timing, but when I do, I see the most amazing results that truly glorify You. Help me to patiently wait on You and to know when You are directing me to move and when You are telling me to wait. I will trust in You.
