VERSE:
1 Kings 11:2–They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.
TRUTH:
Solomon had a problem. He had a “love” problem. He loved women and he loved lots of women. Unfortunately, he allowed his love of women to be stronger than his love for God. I’ve heard people say that a relationship they are in or a person they are dating must be right because they “love” that person. In Solomon’s case, nothing could have been further from the truth. His love for them was directly contrary to the commands that God had given him. If we aren’t careful, we’ll forget that we can control who we love. We have the ability to make up our mind and choose who we love. We must remember that even this area of our life is subject to God’s commands and we must make our decision on choosing a Godly person to love.
RESPONSE:
Father, I will praise You and thank You for all that You have done. Thank You for my spouse who I love and who loves You above all. I pray that we will glorify You together in our relationship and seek You first always in everything that we do.
