Read 1 Kings chapter 15

VERSE:

1 Kings 15:11–Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.

TRUTH:

For each and every king that is listed, there is one sentence that indicates their obedience to the Lord. In this chapter, Asa is the only one who received a passing grade from the Lord. This leads to two questions, we should ask ourselves. First, if God were to sum up our entire life into one sentence, would it show that we did what was right in God’s eyes or not? Second, would we continue to be obedient to God even if we were the only one around us who was? Asa was alone and didn’t have great examples of Godly obedience around him to draw from, yet he continued to push through and be faithful to God and as a result God gave him a long reign. How would we answer these questions?

RESPONSE:

Father, I seek to be obedient to You each and every day to show You how much I love You. I desire to know that You are first in my life and that You are being glorified in all that I do. Even if I am the only one around who will be obedient, I continue to desire to be obedient to You.
