Read Judges chapter 9

VERSE:

Judges 9:56–Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimeleck had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.

TRUTH:

Years had passed before this took place. Abimeleck had murdered 70 men at one time in a fit of rage to secure his own power and authority, but God allowed him to continue for several years before He brought about judgment. When we look around our world and we see all the evil things that people do and seem to get away with, we must remember that God’s judgment is coming. However, there is no guarantee that it will come immediately. Sometimes God chooses to wait before exacting judgment. However, we should never be so foolish as to think that God won’t bring judgment. We can wait and trust in God knowing that He is in control of everything, including the timing of judgment.

RESPONSE:

Father, sometimes I want to see the wicked punished so badly. Yet, I know that You know what is best and that includes not just what should happen, but also when. I pray that You will give me Your eyes to see and Your patience to wait so that Your glory may be fulfilled not only in what happens, but also when.
