Take Action, Day 2
The languages came first, then the crowd. Read Acts chapter 2.
I’ve read this story probably hundreds of times over the years and today was the first time I noticed this. Yes, there are a lot of people in Jerusalem for the Pentecost. The disciples were gathered together and they received the Holy Spirit and started speaking in different languages. Then the crowd gathered to hear what they were saying.
I had always envisioned this being a case where the crowd was already gathered and the disciples went out to them and started speaking in other languages to share the message. But that’s not what happens here. God created an incredible opportunity here. God moved in an unexplainable way in the lives of the Disciples. People were drawn to that movement and the Disciples finished by sharing the message that God had given.
Sometimes I feel like I have to work up something or do something special before God’s movement will happen when in actuality, God’s movement happens first and that’s what draws people to him. Not the other way around. We need to realize that God is moving and because he is moving, people are going to be drawn to that. We then just need to keep doing what we’re doing and allowing God to move through us for people to hear the message.
Are we waiting on God to move and following where he is moving at so that we are in line with him?
