Christian Devotional – December 27, 2014

VERSE:

1 Thessalonians 4:4–that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.

TRUTH:

The context of this verse is dealing specifically with the area of sex. We are to be in control of our bodies, not the other way around. Our desires and urges are not to be given free reign to lead us into anything and everything we think we want. Can we truly say that every aspect of our sexual life is characterized by the words “holy” and “honorable?” It should be. God desires that we enjoy sex in a way that is pleasing and honoring to Him.

RESPONSE:

Father, You are the One who created sex and You desire that we enjoy it, but we should be in control of ourselves and our bodies, not the other way around. Father, keep me in line with Your will in this area so that my actions may be holy and honorable.
