Read Genesis chapter 14
VERSE:
Genesis 14:20–“And praise be to the God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
TRUTH:
The High Priest Melchizedek is first mentions here. No one really knows where he came from or much about him other than the fact that he was a priest of the Most High God. After Abram won his battle he was there and Melchizedek offered a praise to God on behalf of Abram for all that God had done for him. Abram was so moved and touched, that he offered 10% of all that he had. This is the first time that a “tenth” is mentioned, which is usually connected to a tithe amount for believers. When we come before God what should we offer? We should come to God without whole life and allow Him to have control of everything, but as Abram does, we should show that commitment and dedication by being willing to offer a portion of what we have. Will we offer to God what is God’s today?
RESPONSE:
Father, You are worthy of everything that I have because it’s all Yours anyway. I will praise and offer You all that I am. Take my life and allow it to bless and praise You. I will lift You up and thank You for all that You have done for me. I offer You all of my life.
