Read Judges chapter 2

VERSE:

Judges 2:19–But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshipping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.

TRUTH:

While there was someone watching them, the people would straighten up and be obedient. However, when that person died the people would go back to doing all the evil things they had been doing before. What do we do when someone is watching us? Do we follow in obedience to the Lord only when people are looking at us, or are we committed to being obedient even when no one else is looking? Part of surrendering to the Lord is giving up our evil practices and stubborn ways. Have we done that?

RESPONSE:

Father, I give them up. I give up my stubborn practices and evil ways, no matter who is around and watching. I know that You are watching at all times and You see my heart. I don’t want any part of those things anymore. Give me the strength to stand for you even when no one else is watching.
