Christian Devotional – December 5, 2015

Read James chapter 5

VERSE:

James 5:7-8–Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.

TRUTH:

The Lord has promised His return someone day. He also indicated that no one would know the day or the hour when that will happen. Yet, we are to be watchful and looking forward to that day. Sometimes, when difficult and hard things happen, it can be easy to say, “Come on Lord! Let’s just go home now!” Yet, God tells us to be patient. He knows exactly the right time for His return and, just like the farmer, He is waiting until the harvest will be the most fruitful. Are we standing firm and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ so that when the time for His return does come, the most people possible are ready?

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that You are coming back and I am ready for that day. Please help me to be patient and to work to bring others to You so that when You do choose to come You will have the most possible people who call You Lord. Thank You for Your patience so that all may hear of You and have an opportunity for Your saving grace and mercy.
