VERSE:
Numbers 21:8–The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”
TRUTH:
The people grumbled and complained again, so the Lord allowed poisonous snakes to come into their camp. The people were dying as a result. They came to Moses and repented. Then the Lord told Moses to make a snake and put it up on a pole. Anyone who was bitten could look up to the pole and live. That would take such faith to do, because it makes no logical sense. It’s easy to look back and say that of course we would have looked up at the pole if we had been bitten, but the Bible doesn’t say whether everyone did or not. When we are facing difficult situations, do we have the faith to look to Jesus and to trust in Him to help us with our problems? Will we take that step of faith?
RESPONSE:
Father, sometimes it’s easiest to have faith when we have nothing left to lose. The people of Israel who had been bitten by the snakes had nothing to lose and even it didn’t make sense, they would trust that God would heal them as He said. I will trust You to heal me and to make things right in every situation because I have faith in You.
