Christian Devotional – February 12, 2015

Read Galatians chapter 2

VERSE:

Galatians 2:21–I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.

TRUTH:

Why was the law and commandment given in the Old Testament? Are we still to be following those laws seeking to earn our salvation? No! God gave us the law and commandments to show us that we couldn’t possibly live up to His standards and expectation on our own. If we could be good enough on our own, then Jesus Christ wouldn’t have needed to die for us. Because we can’t gain God’s righteousness on our own, we need Jesus Christ. Are we trying to earn our salvation or are we resting in God’s grace.

RESPONSE:

Father, You have given Your Son Jesus Christ as a way to give Your grace to all who will accept it. I will accept Your gift of grace today and will live in Your love. You are perfect and on my own, I will never be perfect. Instead, I will rest in You today.
