Read John chapter 15
VERSE:
John 15:2–He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
TRUTH:
As we look at the branches that Jesus is referring to, what happens to each one? Each branch gets cut. The question becomes, what is the purpose of the cutting. The branches that aren’t producing are cut in such a way that they are amputated from the vine. They are cut completely off. The branches that are producing are cut in a precise and specific way so that they will produce even more. While we may not enjoy the cutting experience, we can rest assured that it is necessary to become the fullness of all that God has for us to be. For which reason are we being cut? Will we allow ourselves to be pruned so that we accomplish even more and greater things that God has for us?
RESPONSE:
Father, I don’t like getting cut, but I would rather be pruned than amputated. I will look forward to Your pruning knowing that You do it simply to be able to better help me to grow and be like You. Thank You for taking the time necessary to work with me and make me more and more like You every day.
