Christian Devotional – February 24, 2015
VERSE:
Psalm 49:12–People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like beasts that perish.
TRUTH:
I passed a TIME magazine this morning and on the cover was a picture of a baby and the question of whether this baby would live to be 142 years old. Interestingly, the fact still remains that no matter how long we seek to prolong life, everyone still dies. We have brought medicine and science a long ways in the past years, but that doesn’t change the fact that we can’t stop death, only delay it. Death doesn’t care whether the person is rich or poor, it still takes people. Are we living today and making choices to store up for our heavenly gain instead of our earthly gain?
RESPONSE:
Father, I can’t cheat death or buy my way out of it. Death equalizes all people. I will focus on what I am leaving behind and the legacy of my actions and attitudes. May You be glorified by my life long after death has brought me to You.
