Philippians 1:6-8 – For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me. For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.

We are not perfect. I realize that probably doesn’t come as a shock to most of us, but it is important that we remember this. The reason is because God is working to bring us to perfection. We may not be perfect now, but by God’s grace and through his efforts, we can be made perfect, in the likeness of Jesus Christ. One day, when God brings us to heaven, we will be made completely right with him. Until then, we must be mindful of the fact that we are on a journey and that everyday we make choices that either bring us closer to that perfection or push us further away from it.
Paul was deeply concerned for the people. He shares about his deep love for them and how it’s right for him to be concerned for them. Who are we concerned about? How do we continue to push toward all that God has for us each and every day? Who else are we helping to push toward the perfection that God wants for them in their lives? When we understand what God has for us, we want nothing more than to be able to share that with others. Who are we sharing with today?
