Read Genesis chapter 30

VERSE:

Genesis 30:27–But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you.

TRUTH:

Even though Laban wasn’t a believer in God, he recognized when he had a good thing going. He realized that God was with Jacob and was working in what Jacob was doing and blessing it, and Laban wanted to stay part of that blessing. Laban, like so many people, wanted the benefits of a relationship with God, without having to actually submit his life to God himself. The question becomes, how do we help others, while still allowing them to realize they need to make a decision for the Lord on their own. As we are evaluating our relationship with the people around us today, we must remain mindful that we serve God, not others. God is the one to bless us, not others. Our job is to simply point others in the direction of the One who we serve.

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that my life is to point people to You, but I don’t always help people look past me. I know You are the reason that I have the blessings in my life; help me to not take credit for the work that You have done in my life. Help me to always give You the credit so that others can see what You have done as well and trust You for themselves.
