Are you willing to go searching? As we continue reading through Luke, we see that chapter 15, verses 1-10 give two separate stories about people who have lost something and search to find it, then rejoice once it it’s found. Often we talk about the fact that there is rejoicing in heaven over sinners coming to salvation, but today this verse stuck out to me.

“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?
Luke 15:4 NASB

Jesus assumes that the people will go seek after the lost. Are we welling to go and do that. Are we still so concerned for the lost people around us that we are willing to do whatever we need to do to see them come to know Christ? When we are that invested in people them the rejoicing comes naturally when they have accepted Jesus. The concern is that we have to be that invested in them that we are willing to go in the first place.

Do we care that people around us are I  need of as savior? Do we desire to see them come to know Christ so much that we are willing to leave our own stuff to go search for them?  That is the first question we must ask ourselves before we start talking about rejoicing with them in their salvation.
