Read Genesis chapter 36

VERSE:

Genesis 36:6–Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.

TRUTH:

Esau had a very practical reason to move. He had a lot of stuff. He knew that he would not be able to support his livestock when they were so close to all the livestock that his brother had. So, he picked up and moved. Unfortunately, this meant that he moved farther away from his brother and the Godly influence that his brother could have had on him. As a result, Esau’s descendants, the Edomites, became some of the most Godless men that the Israelites would deal with. Our actions will have an effect on all the generations that come after us. Are we setting up our children and the next generation to follow God or are we leading the farther away?

RESPONSE:

Father, I want to be a light leading people to You, not just my own children, but all of the people in the next generation. Help me to stay right where You would have me and not move so my actions can influence the right people for You.
