The God who Hears, Day 22

How do you gain a following? Read 1 Samuel chapter 22.

Well, if you’re David, the way you gather a following is by running out to a cave and hiding. Then, all the upset, discontented, frustrated people come and find you and join you. That doesn’t exactly sound like the recipe for success for most businesses or personal lives that I’ve ever heard. Yet, God used this group to bring about God’s glory and to shape David into a leader.

We may not always understand how or why we are put in the position that we are. But, God brings to us the people that he means for us to have to lead when we’re supposed to have those people. Sometimes, the most active group is found among the people who are discontented. People who are not OK with the status quo are the people who want and are willing to make change. God has a plan for us and we may not understand why. His choices for us may not have been our choices for us. Yet, God ultimately knows best and we can trust him to bring us together with the right people at exactly the right time.
