Read Genesis chapter 42

VERSE:

Genesis 42:21–They said to one another, “Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that’s why this distress has come on us.

TRUTH:

Many years had passed since Joseph’s brothers had sold him into slavery, yet they remembered exactly what that day had been like and the expression on Joseph’s face. When we are doing things that we should not be doing, we are not able to easily move one and forget. If we have unconfessed sin in our lives, God will continue to bring it up to us so that we are forced to deal with it, just like Joseph’s brothers did. Typically, until we do confess it and ask for forgiveness for it, we will be haunted by it, just like Joseph’s brothers were. What in our lives do we need to bring before God today so that He can cleanse us and make us whole?

RESPONSE:

Father, You are the only one who can cleanse me. I can’t make myself clean. I know that You see all that I have done and I am thankful that You still love me and seek to restore me. Please forgive me and cleanse me and keep me from dwelling on it so that I may continue to move and work and glorify You.
