No answer. When we are busy calling for help, it’s important to make sure that what we are calling to, can actually answer us. Read 1 Kings 18:27-29.

It came about at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone aside, or is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and needs to be awakened.” So they cried with a loud voice and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until the blood gushed out on them. When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.

Elijah is making fun of the prophets of Baal, and nothing is happening to their sacrifice. They pray and call out and cry to their god all day long and nothing happens.

When we are faced with difficulties and trying times and we call out for help, it’s important to recognize that we must call out to something that actually can help us. If we are spending our time calling to the things of this world, we are wasting our time just like these prophets wasted their time all day. The world cannot help us. All the little gods that we try to make important in our lives are not able to save us when it comes down to it. There is no answer. Are we crying out for help to the one God who actually can help us?
