Double Portion – #10

God fulfills his promises. Read 2 Kings 3:19-24.

Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.'” It happened in the morning about the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water. Now all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. And all who were able to put on armor and older were summoned and stood on the border. They rose early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood. Then they said, “This is blood; the kings have surely fought together, and they have slain one another. Now therefore, Moab, to the spoil!” But when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites arose and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land, slaughtering the Moabites.

Through Elisha, God had told the kings that he would take care of their needs. He would provide them water and he would provide them the victory. Today we see God fulfill this promise. God always fulfills his promises to us. Sometimes the timing is not what we expect, but make no mistake, God is never late and never goes back on his word.

What has God promised us? What are the things that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God will do because he said he will? We can count on those things and act as if they’ve already happened because they will happen. God fulfills his promises, period.
