Through Suffering, Day 32

It will all be laid bare and destroyed. Read 2 Peter 3:10.

Just the one verse to focus on today, but what we see here is the culmination of everything that we’ve read up to this point. All the things that people have been so focused on will ultimately be completely and utterly destroyed. God is going to destroy this world. This world is sinful and has been corrupted by all that is not holy, and as a result, God will ultimately destroy everything.

While that may sound terrifying, we have hope in Jesus Christ and because of God and through Jesus, all will be made new and pure and holy. All of the wonderful beautiful things in this world are simply a reflection of our God and as a result, those are the things that will continue on when God remakes the world, just as he promises to do in Revelation, with the new heaven in the new Earth. I don’t claim to understand exactly how that is all going to take place, but I can trust and have faith in the God who knows all.

My responsibility to him today is to stay focused on him and obedient to him. I don’t need to get wrapped up and all the crazy things of this world because they will not last, and will ultimately pass away. What are we staying focused on today? Are our priorities in line with God’s ultimate priority?
