Christian Devotional – July 22, 2016

Read 1 Kings chapter 1

VERSE:

1 Kings 1:30–I will surely carry out this very day what I swore to you by the Lord, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place.

TRUTH:

David had made a promise to Bathsheba, but he hadn’t carried it out and she came to him and reminded him of his promise. David quickly realized that he hadn’t kept his promise. David took the needed steps and he made it right. He did what he needed to do in order to keep his promise. Are we people of our word? Will we do what we have said we will do? When we make a promise, we are to make sure that we are following through with that.

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that I need to be a person of my word. Keep me focused on being a person of integrity who does what she says she is going to do. I want to glorify You by doing what I have promised to do.
