Christian Devotional – July 26, 2012

VERSE:
Isaiah 34:8–For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

TRUTH:
There is evil in the world. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. As a result there is a day of vengeance that is coming when the Lord will give people exactly what they deserve: death and destruction. Because we are used to immediate results, this fact can be easy to overlook, but it does not negate the fact that God is Holy and just and will punish sin. The Lord has a day of vengeance. Have we confessed our sins and repented?

RESPONSE:
Lord, I will not forget that sin has consequences and our precious son Jesus died to give us the hope and assurance of forgiveness and salvation.
