Read 1 Samuel chapter 25

VERSE:

1 Samuel 25:26–And now, my lord, as surely as the Lord your God lives and as you live, since the Lord has kept you from bloodshed and from avenging yourself with your own hands, may your enemies and all who are intent on harming my lord be like Nabal.

TRUTH:

In the last chapter we read how David had an opportunity to do harm to King Saul, but that he did not. Now, here, we read about a story where David intends to do harm to a foolish man. Instead, the man’s wise wife stops him. In her statement to David, she reminds him how the Lord has kept David from harm and kept him doing the right thing. What’s amazing is that the event from the previous chapter has become known among other people and has given David a reputation for how he treats people. Do we have a reputation for how we treat people and does that reputation please God? would others know what that reputation is?

RESPONSE:

Father, I want to pray that You will help me guard my reputation for following You. Help me to be mindful of how my actions reflect You and make sure that You are glorified in all that I do.
