Christian Devotional – July 6, 2013

VERSE:

Jeremiah 7:24–But they did not listen or pay attention; instead they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

TRUTH:

When people are confronted with their sin, they really only have a couple of possible responses. Either they are broken and move forward toward confession and repentance, or they ignore the warning and continue to rebel. These people Jeremiah was speaking to chose to continue to rebel. God indicates that their hearts are evil and stubborn. People don’t always listen or pay attention when we share God’s message with them. We are to continue to realize that when people are action with out God, their hearts are evil and stubborn. People cannot be truly good apart from God.

RESPONSE:

Father, help me continue to share even in the disappointment of rejection. I pray You will show each person that their own heart, apart from You, is evil and stubborn. I will choose to allow You to change my heart and recreate it as obedient to You.
