Christian Devotional – July 8, 2014

Read 1 John chapter 4

VERSE:

1 John 4:1–Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

TRUTH:

How do we know whether an idea or a thought we’ve had comes from God? We can’t just assume that it is because we have an enemy who would love to trip us up and cause us harm. Yet, God states that we can test the spirits to see whether they are from God or from our enemy. Anyone who comes and claims they are from God must be able to show and demonstrate that they are walking in truth. Tomorrow we will see exactly how to tell which is which, but as we go through today, we must be thinking about everyone and everything we encounter and be willing to go through and test each one.

RESPONSE:

Father, I must put my faith in You and no one else. You are the one who is truth and only those people who are walking with You will also be in truth. I will remain focused on You and only You today so that I may be able to test everything that comes my way as to whether or not it is from You.
