Read Psalm chapter 135

VERSE:

Psalm 135:15-18–The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

TRUTH:

We become what we worship. Do we worship money? We will turn into cold, calculating, people with no care of concern about the other people in our lives, because that is what money itself is. Do we worship time? We will be obsessed about how every minute of every day is spent by ourselves and others around us? This verse indicates that idols are unseeing, uncaring, objects that have been made by humans and if we choose to worship them, we will take on the qualities and characteristics they have. On the other side, if we worship God, we will take on His qualities and characteristics: love, joy, peace, etc. What will we choose to become more like today?

RESPONSE:

Father, I will put away anything else that has come in the way of my relationship with You. I desire to be focused on You and You only. I love You and I am focused on You and You only today. Help me become more like You for those are the qualities I desire in my life.
