Read Hebrews chapter 12

VERSE:

Hebrews 12:3–Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

TRUTH:

It’s no secret that Jesus Christ endured hardship and difficulties. At every turn, he encountered people who were trying to trip Him up or seeking to kill Him. We must realize that if we are going to seek to be like Jesus then people will treat us in the same way that they treated Him. Still, it’s no fun to go through trials and difficulties and if we are not careful, we’ll find ourselves getting beaten down and discouraged with all that we are experiencing. We must keep our eyes firmly focused on the reason we do what we do. As we “consider Him,” we will be reminded of our purpose and passion for Him and for obeying Him and giving Him glory. As we “consider Him,” we will better understand His response to the difficulties He faced so we can emulate His response. We must be focused on Him or we will find ourselves quickly falling away due to the pressure and the opposition we will inevitably face.

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that opposition is out there. There will always be attacks and challenges from every side, but I know that You stood through all of them and You are standing still. Be my guide. Lead me in the words to say in my responses. Give me wisdom on how to stand up and witness for You, even in the midst of the opposition’s attacks. The enemy would love nothing more than to see me fall, but I pray that You will use these times to shine Your life through me so that others will want to know You and You will be glorified.
