But God, Why? Day 5

Wait for God’s answer. Read Habakkuk chapter 2, focusing on verse 1.

As you read through all of Habakkuk chapter 2, we see that verse one is the only verse where Habakkuk is still speaking. Chapter one ended with Habakkuk’s second question to God, and chapter 2 verse 1 finalizes that before God responds in chapter 2. The interesting thing about this verse is how persistently Habakkuk is waiting for God’s answer. He has asked the question and he is going to stop and wait to ensure that he receives an answer from God.

When we pray to God and ask questions, how committed are we to waiting for God to answer? Do we earnestly desire to have God’s response. I think that God will often pause in responding to us just to gauge how desperate we are to have the answer. Habakkuk states that he will wait for the answer from the Lord. The scripture doesn’t share how long he waited for an answer, but I doubt that the answer was immediate.

Are we willing to wait for an answer from God?
