Wisdom Squandered, Day 5

To everything, turn, turn, turn. Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-15.
Some of you all may remember the famous song that was written about the first several verses from chapter 3 of Ecclesiastes. After all, there is a season for everything. As Solomon is evaluating his life and looking around him, he can see that there are certainly times for all of these practices that are listed here. As a king, he understands there’s time for war and a time for peace. He understands the importance of planting and harvesting. His wisdom recognizes the interconnected nature of everything that everyone does. There’s always impact to the actions that are taken by others.
With this verse, what’s important to remember is that everything that is done by God lasts. Solomon did a great many things. And some would last and some wouldn’t last. For us, there’s no telling how long our actions will last.
But while there may be a season for everything, God is the one that endures through everything. There’s not going to be anything that God does that does not last or stand the test of time. We need to take the opportunity to ensure that what we are doing aligns with what God is doing. This is the only way that our activities and actions will endure through time. Are we seeking to create a lasting legacy? That can only be accomplished by leading through Christ’s legacy and sharing that with others.
