Running the Race – #18
Philippians 2:16 – holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.

Don’t run in vain. As Paul continues discussing what it takes to run the race of the Christian life, we see him here tell the people not to run in vain. If they’re going to run this race and consider themselves Christians and talk about how they’ve asked Christ to lead their lives, then they need to be focused on living the life that Christ has commanded them to live and on dying to themselves and allowing Christ to live through them every day.
It’s no different for us. The life that Christ wants to live through us is not going to be easy, but it’s going to be one that will bring God joy. Don’t run in vain. Make sure that as we’re going through each and every day that we are focusing on allowing Christ to live through us so that the actions and the activities of our day aren’t done in vain but are done to fully glorify God.
