VERSE:
Joshua 24:22–Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.” “Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.
TRUTH:
Joshua knew this was his last chance to address the entire assembly of Israel and he wanted to be sure and share with them his commitment to follow God. Plus, he wanted to make sure that they were also committed to following God as well. The people indicated that they would follow God and so Joshua is holding them accountable to the works they have spoken. Have we spoken a commitment to follow God? Did we tell someone, somewhere, at some point that we believed in God and would follow Him? Did we mean it and are we still doing it The children of Israel struggled with this after Joshua died. Do we need to go back and recommit to loving and obeying God today?
RESPONSE:
Father, I know that You are seeing me and You know exactly what I do. You know if my commitment to You is being lived out in my heart or not. I pray that You will cleanse my heart. Take every last piece of me and make me wholly committed to You. I know that You are the only One I want and the One that I have chosen. Keep me from being distracted by anything else but You. I am wholly devoted to You.
