Christian Devotional – March 31, 2016

Read Acts chapter 2

VERSE:

Acts 2:42–They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship and to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

TRUTH:

What are we devoting ourselves to? The apostles, brand new in their receipt of the Holy Spirit and new to their understanding of what the Christian life really means, spent their time in teaching, fellowship, eating and prayer. They were so focused on these things that they were devoted to them. They knew that was the only way they would grow in their understanding of all that God desired of them. When we look at our lives and how we spend our time, what are we devoted to? Are we devoted to TV or social media? Are we devoted to sports or sleep? We need to make sure that we are spending our time being devoted to the Word of God, fellowship with other believers, eating what we should (some believe this was taking the Lord’s supper or communion), and to prayer.

RESPONSE:

Father, I spend my time doing a great many things and I know that I need to be able to do all that You have for me to do and the only way I will be prepared to do that is if I am spending time getting prepared. I need to be spending time in Your Word, I need the fellowship of other believers, I need to be consistent and healthy with my eating habits as well as spending time communing with God through His Supper, and I need to be in prayer. These are the weapons that will give me what I need to be successful in the way that God would desire me to be successful each day.
