Read Joshua chapter 5

VERSE:

Joshua 5:14–“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”

TRUTH:

Joshua was very focused on the task at hand. He saw the enemy ahead of him and his mind was focused there. Then this might warrior appeared in front of him and automatically he asks, “Are you for us or against us?” The warrior then gives the above response, reminding Joshua that there is more going on in any situation than just the one side verses the other side. God is always present and is always part of the discussion. God had to remind Joshua that instead of getting so focused just on one side verses the other side, Joshua was to stay focused on God and through that, God will take care of the battles that were coming. Are we keeping our focus on God alone and allowing Him to fight our battles for us?

RESPONSE:

Father, I can get focused on the things I see in front of me and I pray that You will keep me focused on You and You alone, no matter what the situation in front of me looks like.
