Running the Race – #15

Philippians 2:12-13 – So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12‭-‬13 NASB

As we’ve seen over the last couple of days, Jesus Christ is Lord of all and Lord over all. Now, Paul turns his attention to the people that he’s writing to. He wants to remind them that they were faithful while he was there and he knows that even more so they are being faithful while he’s gone. And then he reminds them that it is God who works in and through them. God is the one doing the work.

As long as we are trying to live the Christian life, we will absolutely fail. We cannot live the Christian life. We are sinners, saved by grace. Only Jesus Christ who is Lord of all can live the perfect Christian life. That is why we must allow him to work in us and through us for his own pleasure and purpose. That is how we are to live each and every day. That is how we live the successful Christian life. Are we still trying to live the Christian life? Or have we surrendered to Jesus Christ and are we allowing him to live his life through us each day?
