Christian Devotional – March 9, 2013

VERSE:

2 Chronicles 8:11–Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the City of David to the palace he had built for her, for he said, “My wife must not live in the palace of David king of Israel, because the places the ark of the Lord has entered are holy.”

TRUTH:

Solomon started trying to maintain a double standard. He wanted to follow the rules and obey the commands of the Lord, but he also wanted to do whatever he wanted to do as well. He married many foreign wives that were not believers, but he kept them separate from his worship of God. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to no be affected by sin and disobedience that we allow into our lives. Eventually Solomon was turned away from God by his wives. What are we trying to justify keeping in our life? Eventually sin will lead us further and further from the truth of God.

RESPONSE:

Father, I give You my life and my all. I don’t want any separate areas left to house sin. I will devote myself wholly to You. You are my everything.
