My Testimony

My Story. Read 1 Peter 3:15.
As we have just finished the Roman Road, I decided it would only make sense to take a few moments and share the story of my journey of faith. You see, I look around the world these days and I see so many people searching for purpose and seeking validation from others. I know how strong this pull can be, yet I also know that I don’t have to give in to the temptation to chase that. When I look at why that is, it all goes back to when I was a kid.
I grew up in a home that spoke about Jesus often and we attended church regularly. As a small child, I started to understand that I wasn’t perfect. My parents would have to get on to me about how I treated my younger brother, or whether or not I was obedient to them. Through my teachers at church, I learned that Jesus Christ had come and lived the perfect life that I couldn’t live, he was killed and died the death that my wrongdoing deserved, and God raised him from the dead to live victoriously. While I was still very young, I understood enough to know that Jesus did that for me. He wanted me to experience that victory with him. As much as I understood how at that time, I put my faith and trust in God and told Him, he could lead my life.
As I continue to grow, my understanding of that commitment has grown as well. I am still not perfect, but I understand now how God works and moves in my life to guide me and protect me, sometimes protecting me from myself and my own selfish desires. I had a consistent rock foundation to stand on through the challenges of high school and college. I learned that God is trustworthy and I can rely on Him in every situation, the good and the bad. I don’t have to wonder about my purpose or try to gain approval from others. I am only concerned about God’s approval of me and seeking to live out my purpose in Him. While this doesn’t ensure an easy life, it is a life that is fulfilled and that seeks to give God more praise every day!
While every person’s story is different, this is my story. What is your story? Have you come to the point where you have understood your sin, recognized Jesus’s sacrifice, and made the decision to put him first in every area of your life? If so, tell me about it today!
